Yash Chopra was Punjabi from Punjab who came to Bombay with his elder brother BR Chopra nearly 7 decades back and made a mark in Hindi films. BR Chopra is no more, but Yash went from strength to strength and made some of the finest films ever to grace the silver screen. Known as the 'Romance king' , Yash produced a string of films with love and romance as his central theme that gladdened the hearts of the masses. In fact one can say that he knew the pulse of the people.
Just a month back Yasraj Chopra gave an interview on his 80th birthday. The interview was conducted by Sharukh Khan and Yash looked the picture of good health. God has his own ways and Yash had an attack of dengue and suffered an organ failure and passed away. No one could have imagined that a man who looked so robust in the interview would pass away so soon. The eternel truth of life is death and Yash succumbed to it. But here is a man who left a memory of some wonderful films. He was a prolific producer director and gave a string of hits. These hit films will live for years tocome and will never be forgotton. A list of his films reads like the history of Hindi films. Classics like Waqt, Silsila, Deewar, Naya Daur( directed by him), Rab ne bana de Jodi, Dulia Dulhan le jayege and many more.
Yash Chopra wrote the storys of his films along with his wife. He concentrated on emotional love themes that endeared him to the Indian masses. He was a giant almost like a superman who strode across the Bombay film world. In fact there is hardly another producer director even in Hollywood who can match Yash Chopra's film graph. His going is a tremendous blow. Now the cloak will fall on his son Aditya Chopra and one hopes he will carry on the good work done by his father.
