Ford is a big name in the auto industry. In the USA and the world it commands attention as a leading automaker. Their latest venture is the Ford Focus. The car which is priced upwards of £13,995 for the base model has the most technologically advanced features that one can expect. The car has the latest state of art systems.
One of the systems is the Torque Vectoring Control. Torque as we know is the rotational twisting effect of force. It is measured in foot-pound or newton-meter. It is measured as a equivalent straight line force multiplied by the distance fromthe axis of rotation. This system is incorporated in the new Ford Focus. The effect is that it continuously balances power between the front wheels when accelerating through corners. The system results in a form of a brake being added to the inside wheel while negotiating curves and turning.
The result is better stability and handling of the car. This is a boon for a driver as it makes driving safer and more pleasurable. A driver with this new technology need not reduce speed while turning or on circular roads as the system will automatically adjust the forces on the wheels resulting in great stability. The centripetal and centrifugal forces will be balanced and the wheel will automatically adjust the rotational force
Previously this system was available only in some sports cars like JCW MINIs and the VW GTI. By adopting this system in the Ford Focus the company has taken a lead in the competitive car market. The Ford Focus is the latest car from the Ford stable. The urgency for more innovative cars was great with the Japanese and Korean , not forgetting China breathing down the neck of the US car makers. The Ford Focus handles beautifully , but as yet has not been introduced in India.
