Barrack Obama is the President of the United States. This makes him the head of the most powerful nation in the world. Along with this is the realization that he carries an onerous responsibility. He has the task of furthering and safeguarding the freedom of the democracies and the free world.
Obama was born of a Moslem father and spent 2 years at a Madrasa (Islamic Primary School) before moving away. He thus has a background that should in effect help him,in his greatest challenge from resurgent Islamic terrorism.
Obama has become President at a critical juncture in world history. The UnitedStates is beset with recession, the Soviet Union has collapsed and the Islamic terrorists have made the United States their number one enemy. To make matters worse Obama is saddled with a war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Obama in an address to the students of Cairo University made some startling statements. He announced that America was never at war and will never be at war with the Moslem world. People wonder as to what was the need of making this statement as the USA has never fought any religious war. Perhaps his training in The Madras's may have had some bearing on this speech.
The speech itself failed to have the desired effect and the Islamic fundamentalists redoubled their efforts against America.
The biggest test facing Obama is Afghanistan. Here he has to counter the nefarious designs of the Taliban, Al Qaeda covertly supported Pakistan. He has to separate the cream from the Milk and proceed forward. Afghanistan is a quick sand and the Russians lost there. Obama will have to ensure that the US does not throw in the towel and land a straight third defeat after Korea and Vietnam. In this by proxy the winner will be China.
At home he has to bring buoyancy in the economy that has seen big icons of America like General motors apply for bankruptcy. The future economic scenario is disturbing and Obama will have to lend his entire energy to that aim. With re-election due next year Obama will also have to convince the American public that the economy will be restored. It won't be easy as China controls one third of the US debt.
