Cricket: Enough Of Ignominy, Heads Must Roll Including Tendulkar

India has established a world record of defeats. No team ever has lost 8 consecutive tests on foreign soil throughout the history of the game of test cricket. India has achieved this  ignominy with a so called famed batting line up. In real terms this so called famed batting line up was there only on paper and in real terms the performances were nothing to rave about.

The fact is that the famed trio during the last 3/4 years were only firing on home grounds and against weak teams. But in an acid test they invariably faltered. With this defeat in

Australia, the time has come to dump these veterans including Tendulkar. There is much hype about Sachin Tendulkar, but if a person is honest he will realize that apart from notching personal landmarks he failed to be a factor in India  winning abroad.  One can't think of a great player putting in a below par performance and unable to lead India to a draw of victory in 8 tests abroad and even earlier. He is now 38 and is a shadow of his old self. His reflexes are just not there and persisiting with him will be to the  detriment of  Indian cricket.

Suffice it to say Tendulkar will never retire on his own, intent as he is on making personal landmarks , India's winning be dammed. Tendulkar

is the holy cow of Indian cricket and talking about his failures hurts a lot of people, but he has to go and make way for younger players.

The other two players who also need to be axed are VVS Laxman and Rahul  Dravid. Both these men are going to be 40 shortly and no longer can compete with younger players. It's a pity that the selectors were so overawed by these players that they did not have the guts to drop them. Laxman at least should have been dropped at least 2 years back and he is also a poor fielder and a  worse runner between wickets. Seeing him bat with the young Kohli in the last test was an eye opener as Laxman ran for a single when 2 could have been run.

The poor form of Shewag and Gambhir and the no show captaincy of Dhoni is the icing of the cake on a poor performance. The selectors have to clean the augean stables and changes in the Indian team are called for. Why even the present selection panel must be shone the door. That is the need of the hour. It is better to lose with youngsters than the old fossils. I wonder if the Board is listenning.
